Celebrate Irish Biodiversity during the Bealtaine Living Earth Festival!

Happening between 16-24 May, the Bealtaine Living Earth Festival highlights conservation success stories from the South East and offers hope for a future of thriving wild places. Our aim is to promote a greater understanding and appreciation of the natural world and the importance of protecting it.

The festival marks important dates in the biodiversity calendar such as Fascination of Plants Day (18 May), European Maritime Day (20 May), World Bee Day (20 May) and the UN Day for Biological Diversity (22 May).

We are excited to offer a range of FREE events across the South East, for families, adults, and schools. Explore the full programme and find an event near you HERE.

In addition to events, Paula Walshe, PhD researcher on STEAM in early childhood education, has developed an Early Childhood Activity Book for Bealtaine Living Earth Festival. This is a great resource to engage children with the living world, with activities inspired by key dates in the biodiversity calendar.

The festival is coordinated by CALMAST, the leading centre for the promotion of science, maths, engineering and technology in Ireland.
