THINK SMART, CREATE GREEN!

As part of a new and exciting European and International Schools competition “THINK SMART, CREATE GREEN”, secondary school students and their teachers are invited to get creative and entrepreneurial in exploring solutions to tackle climate change.

The competition is organised by the European project CONEXUS, of which SETU is a partner. In Ireland, this competition is coordinated by CALMAST (SETU’s STEM engagement centre).

The winning Irish Team will win €200 per team member and progress to the European Final to compete for a €1000 first prize!

The competition takes place in 9 countries across Europe and is open to all second level students, in groups of 4 across 2 categories: 12-15 and 15-18 years.

In 2023, Ard Scoil na Mara, Tramore (Co. Waterford) was the European Winner with their project: ‘The Sustainable Way to Go’ of the age category 12-15.

Key Dates

The project has a number of stages (1-5) takes place across the school year, but there are a number of key dates, which are listed below.

27th of October (Friday) – Deadline for registration.

26th of January 2024 (Friday) – Application/projects submission deadline, all stages 1-5 submitted.

29th of February 2024 (Thursday) – Announcement of 5 best submissions per age category for each country.

1st of March and 11th of April 2024 – National Final.

25th of April 2024 – Online International Final, where one project from each country in each age category will compete to win the International final.

Deadline for registration is Friday October 27th.
