Variability in Colour Vision: Genetics, Healthy Aging and Disease

Prof John L Barbur

Significant advances in our understanding of the genetics of colour vision make it possible to account for a great deal of the observed variability in both ‘normal’ trichromatic colour vision and in congenital deficiency. As a result, colour assessment and accurate grading of the severity of colour vision loss have become more important in healthcare and within visually-demanding occupations. In this lecture, Prof Barbur, City University, London, introduces the audience to current approaches and presents the latest findings and results of extensive clinical studies.
